# Create a Transaction

Transactions are used to combine funding and payments.

## Funding

### Private health insurance

When transactions involve PHI funding, we first submit a claim to the relevant insurer to confirm the rebate amount.
We can then request a confirmation from the client to approve the claim.
Finally, the claim can be confirmed and the gap payment is processed.

### Medicare

Medicare claims are submitted post-payment. The claim can be added to the business transaction at any time (up to two years later). A claim may return a rebate estimate immediately or require further review.
